Curated by

November 10th – December 29th

Artists are always on the forefront of challenging cultural norms through their artistic expression. No matter if we are discussing the individual, the community or the political system, the perspective of the artist creates insights we might otherwise overlook. Farewell 44 is an artistic tribute, commemorating the achievements of our country’s first African-American president and fellow Chicagoan Barack Obama.

On exhibit, will be the works created by 20 artists of color, our goal is to amplify the significance of President Obama’s poised leadership and dignified presence and his indelible mark on our culture.

The artists will utilize diverse mediums of artistic expressions, to create and highlight the successes, as well as the challenges, President Obama experienced during his two terms in office.

Each art piece will be represented of the artistry and style of its creator, who will render their pieces for the exhibition in canvas, wood panel, photography, illustration, graffiti, prints, collages and other mixed media materials.

Our goal is to provoke thought, engage in dialogue and examine theory, while connecting arts and culture to the power of voice and reason.
This is our farewell artistic tribute to the 44th President Barack Hussein Obama.
