CHICAGO, IL (June 2012) Chicago-based portrait, and fine art photographer Reisha is pleased to present her debut book publication, Sexy Clowns. The volume, scheduled for release in July 2012, is a collection of photographs that offer an intimate satire of female sexuality and its dependence on cosmetics and clothing to define desirability and womanhood.

Sexy Clowns is an avant garde body of work that is, at once, both striking and haunting. The concept originates from Reisha’s desire to contrast societal beauty standards and sexuality with a familiar character viewed by many as comical and sometimes even grotesque. The models, make-up and props highlight and distort the lengths women go to in order to be “sexy enough” for themselves, other women and men.

In each scene, the sensuality flaunted by the boudoir models in lingerie is juxtaposed against a jester’s garish make-up. “The morning before the shoot I’d snatch things from my closet and bangle box, and mix it with whatever the model and make-up artists had to offer. Throughout this project I experienced joy in not only photographing, but exposing my ability to style models,” explains Reisha.
