Andrea Coleman Bio
Andrea Coleman is an artist based in Chicago who utilizes the various mediums of oils, acrylics paints, magazine clippings, fabric and digital prints. Inspired by her suburban upbringing, animation and various mural artists, her work currently investigates the intuitive interconnectedness and multidimensional relationship of aura and narrative. She received her BFA at Columbia College Chicago and is currently a recent Finalist for the Luminarts Visual Foundation. Coleman is also an Idea Award recipient of the Art and Art Activism organization, Hollis Sigler Manifest Award winner and a previous HATCH projects resident at Chicago Artist Coalition.

“My work derives inspiration from using representational photographic family memorabilia, clippings and videos as a basis to produce a series of digital paintings. Combined with expressive mark-making and coloration, each piece addresses elements of nostalgia and a distorted form of memory…”
